Hanssen pled guilty to 15 counts of espionage and other charges in 2001, according to the FBI. Hanssen had been serving a life sentence in the prison, which is a maximum security facility, without possibility of parole since 2002. He is believed to have died of natural causes, The Associated Press reported. Hanssen was subsequently pronounced deceased by EMS personnel."
